However, complications arose because he did not have full decision-making power when it came to selecting the cast. – Then producer Lew Rywin said that the director was delighted with me, but unfortunately the trade unions would not allow a Polish actor to play this role at any point – recalled Peszek. He felt not only unappreciated, but also humiliated. He became furious. – I had an attack of rage, I was making a fuss unnecessarily. Not because I felt humiliated, but because it wasn’t told to me directly. Because I wanted to take a closer look at what kind of actor I am based on this scene, he explained.
It’s true that Spielberg was determined to hire him and did everything possible, but Peszek was proud and was not convinced. – Then I saw Spielberg’s personal note: “I must have it.” But I said no, he said.
