WizzAir cancels flights from Poland. Many popular destinations are disappearing. You won’t go there on holiday again

This is bad news for Poles flying with low-cost airlines. WizzAir, one of the most popular carriers, canceled many connections from Poland. The situation does not concern only Poland, as connections in other European countries have also disappeared.

Poles often decide to travel with cheap airlines. The network of connections was very popular, and the carriers themselves tried to adapt to the needs of customers. However, recently the Hungarian airline WizzAir suspended as many as 37 flights, including from Poland. What is the reason?

Why does WizzAir cancel flights? The reason is problems with planes

According to the portal, already in autumn WizzAir faced problems and introduced changes to the network of planned flights. Engine inspections were a problem, which caused the line to reduce the number of connections by 10%. WizzAir’s machines have Pratt & Whitney engines and their components are made of poor material, which means they corrode faster and there is a significant risk of damage and cracks. The manufacturer committed to inspection and possible repairs, and as a result, some of the aircraft were grounded. In the first half of 2024, as many as 650 machines are scheduled to undergo inspection.

What flights has WizzAir canceled? The carrier canceled several holiday connections

In mid-January, WizzAir withdrew flights from Wrocław to the Icelandic Keflavik and Kutaisi. The situation is similar with connections to Valencia. The Hungarian carrier has also removed typical holiday destinations, so we will not fly to Dubrovnik, Rhodes or Burgas. – Talks with the carrier are still ongoing regarding the final shape of the summer connection network – explained Bartosz Wiśniewski, spokesman for the Wrocław airport. From March 27, flights from Pyrzowice to Brussels Charleroi, Ibiza, Castellon, Bergen and Oslo-Torp will also disappear. The smallest changes will affect Warsaw Chopin Airport, where only flights to Birmingham and Marrakech are suspended.
