You don’t have to look far to find unique Valentine’s Day customs. In Germany, on this day, lovers give each other a pig, which is a symbol of desire and prosperity. Of course, we are talking about figurines, decorations or cards with a drawing of a cute animal. In addition, they are often accompanied by heart-shaped ginger cookies. Women also believe that the man they dream of on the night of February 13-14 will become their lover. In the Czech Republic, couples celebrate Valentine’s Day twice, February 14 and May 1. The most popular custom is for them to hang love locks.
Is Valentine’s Day only for lovers? Not necessarily
On the other hand In South Korea, Valentine’s Day is celebrated for three days, month by month. And so, on February 14, we have Men’s Day, when women give gifts to their loved ones, sometimes home-made gifts. February 14 is organized in the Philippines mass weddings. Hundreds of lovers then have the chance to vow forever, at the expense of the state.
