“When is the wedding?” is the latest romantic-comedy proposition from Canal+. . The first episode begins with a suggestive sex scene, and in subsequent episodes it doesn’t get any more puritanical. Sex is one of the main characters of the series, which tells the story of the breakdown of the relationship between Wanda and Tośek, who, free from mutual obligations, check what other partners have in common.
The scenes are long, sometimes intense, and it is no wonder that the producers decided to support the actors by hiring specialists to help them.
On the set of “When’s the wedding?” intimacy coordinators were present
They are called “intimacy coordinators” and are supposed to help actors not only play scenes of physical intimacy well, but also take care of their psychological comfort. Few people outside the acting world have to undress in front of strangers and fake close-up scenes. And those in “When’s the wedding?” there is no shortage.
Marta Łachacz, coordinator of intimate scenes, was present on the set. She made sure that the actors knew from beginning to end how far they could go, what exactly would happen in which scenes and what they could do to avoid accidentally exposing the other party to unwanted physical contact. To some extent, he is the choreographer of entire sequences of scenes, which he arranges together with the actors and acts as an intermediary between them and the director. The job of a coordinator is becoming more and more popular on modern film sets, where there are plenty of scenes that a dozen or so years ago could only be seen in light pornography. Additionally, there is more and more talk about the need to set clear boundaries, which have been freely crossed over the years. Previously, no one cared about how certain scenes would affect the actors – their burden was considered a mandatory element of acting. Now, however, the trend has reversed.
“When is the wedding?” follows the path already followed by foreign productions. The intimacy coordinator had a lot of leeway, including: in the series “Bridgertons”, which is a costume version of soft-porn. The coordinator was present on the set of “Sex Education”, and not so long ago we could see the coordinator’s work on the set of “Top Model” during the famous naked sessions. It was the same Marta Łachacz who worked with the actors on the set of the Canal+ series.
