Ninety years ago, it was built from scratch. The resort located on the Hel Peninsula, between Hel and Jastarnia, differs significantly from the neighboring towns. We are talking about Jurata, which for many years was just a poor fishing village, and in 1928 it became a place called the “Polish Palm Beach” and the most popular resort in pre-war Poland.
Jurata has been called the Polish “Palm Beach”. It is considered by many to be an exclusive place
Jurata has been enjoying constant popularity for many years as a resort for elites. The town located on the Hel Peninsula, whose heyday dates back to the 1930s, was even compared to the prestigious “Palm Beach” in the United States. Anna Tomiak in her book entitled “Jurata. All this crazy” described what was happening and what the stay in this unique resort was like. – Bungalows on large forest plots equipped with all comforts, including a room with a separate entrance for a maid, baths in heated sea water, the Lido hotel and elegant guesthouses, star concerts, car rallies and dances – this is probably a luxury. – Tomiak described in an interview with Urszula Abucewicz from the portal
Jurata attracted famous names. Today it is a favorite place for water sports enthusiasts
Polish “Palm Beach” also attracted famous and influential people. Jurata’s guests included Eugeniusz Bodo, Jadwiga Smosarska, Maria Jasnorzewska-Pawlikowska, Counts Potocki and Princes Czetwertyński, as well as General Sikorski and Józef Beck. Wojciech Kossak even had his villa and studio here, where he painted the famous painting “The Marriage of Poland with the Sea. Mościcki, in turn, spent a month here. Currently, a Polish actress also likes to visit
– Only Jurata attracted me like a magnet. Eugeniusz Bodo and Jadwiga Smosarska had fun here, Jan Kiepura performed, and Artur Gold and Jerzy Petersburski’s orchestra played. Entrepreneurs had summer homes, for example Jan Wedel or Karol Teodor Buhle, the owner of a textile factory in Łódź, aristocrats and politicians. Count Potocki visited, the head of diplomacy Józef Beck and General Kazimierz Sosnkowski strolled along the promenade, and Loda Halama danced in the Lido hotel. In a word, the land of happiness. In the summer of 1939, when war was already felt elsewhere in Poland, no one in Jurata wanted to believe in it. – Tomiak reported in the same conversation. Today, Jurata attracts not only famous names, but also tourists who want to relax by the sea, as well as lovers of water sports such as windsurfing or kitesurfing.
