Krystyna Proñko criticized young artists. Now she wants to go to Eurovision

Krystyna Proñko applied for pre-selection for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. In 2022, the singer appeared in the podcast “WojewódzkiKędzierski”, in which she spoke unfavorably about the stars of the modern Polish music scene.

Known for hits such as “Psalm Standing in Queue” or “Jesteś Lek Na Całe Zło”, Krystyna Prońko entered the pre-selection for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. This information was provided by the Association of Eurovision Song Contest Fans.

Krystyna Prońko wants to go to Eurovision

Krystyna Prońko submitted the song “Tempus Fugit”, composed by Mietek Jurecki, to the pre-selection. The music video for the song was released online on February 2, 2024. On this day, applications for this year’s pre-selections also ended. A total of 112 candidates expressed their willingness to participate in the competition, including Justyna Steczkowska, Anna Jurksztowicz, Julia Pośnik and Natasza Urbańska. The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden. Let us remind you that the winner of last year’s competition was Loreen, who performed on stage with the song “Tattoo”.

77-year-old Krystyna Prońko became famous in 2022 thanks to her statement in the podcast of Kuba Wojewódzki and Piotr Kędzierski. When asked to evaluate the contemporary Polish music scene, Prońko stated that none of the artists evoked greater emotions in her. The singer also criticized the vocal skills of Dawid Podsiadło and Zenek Martyniuk. “He has a very bad-sounding vocal” – she said about the “king of disco polo”.

Krystyna Prońko’s musical debut dates back to the mid-1960s. The artist collaborated with, among others, Czes³aw Niemen and Polish Radio. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Silver Medal for Merit to Culture, Gloria Artis.
