Rapper Killer Mike was arrested by the policefor misdemeanor assault at the Grammy Awards held this Sunday in Los Angeles. The artist was seen handcuffed and escorted by agents outside the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night after winning three Grammy Awards during the ceremony.
The rapper’s lawyer confirmed to Variety magazine on Sunday night that Killer Mike was released after his arrest: “He’s out and will celebrate his sweep tonight.”
Hollywood Reporter writer Chris Gardner broke the news of the arrest on Twitter with several videos of Killer Mike being detained.
Killer Mike won three awards during the pre-show ceremony, in which several Grammy Awards were presented before the main broadcast. Gardner’s video shows Killer Mike being escorted away by police in handcuffs around 4:22 local time.
The rapper won in all three categories in which he was nominated: best rap song and best rap performance for his song ‘Scientists & Engineers’ and best rap album for ‘Michael’, his sixth studio album released in June 2023.
His song ‘Scientists & Engineers’ featured André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane. She beat Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Hillbillies’; ‘Love Letter’ by Black Thought; ‘Players’ by Coi Leray; and Drake and 21 Savage’s ‘Rich Flex’ in the race for best rap performance. In best rap song, the song triumphed over “Rich Flex”; “Attention” by Doja Cat; “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice and Aqua and “Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi Vert.
