Maria Zaj±cówna-Radwan, a legendary actress of the Polish theater scene, has died. Information about the death of the famous artist was provided by the Stary Theater in Krakow.

“It is with great sadness that we received the news that Maria Zającówna-Radwan, a wonderful actress who belonged to the Stary Theater Group from 1975 to 1998, died. The artist, who was able to combine stage instinct with flawless technique in an extraordinary way, created nearly 30 works on the stage of our Theater. roles, working with directors such as Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Maciej Prus, Andrzej Wajda, Krystian Lupa and Mikołaj Grabowski,” the Stary Theater in Krakow said on social media.

The artist was born on November 25, 1933. She graduated from the Krakow State Drama School and in 1957 she made her theater debut in “The Enchanted Manor”. She was one of the leading actresses of the Polish avant-garde. For several years she performed at the Cricot 2 Theater, where she played the role of the Specter in “In a Little Manor House”. In the 1960s, the actress was also professionally associated with Piwnica pod Baranami. Comedy roles were also close to Zającówna’s heart, such as the role of the Old Man in “The Sejm of Women” or the Woman in “Spaghetti and the Sword”. During her stage career, Zającówna-Radwan collaborated with, among others, Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Grzegorzewski and Kazimierz Kutz. She started working at the Stary Theater in 1975. She was responsible for the creation of nearly 30 different characters.

Last October, the actress’ ex-husband, Stanisław Radwan, who had been in a relationship with Dorota Segda since 2001, also died. The screenwriter, composer and director was 84 years old at the time of his death.
