The monthly “Teatr” published information about the death of Agata Tomasiewicz. The journalist and theater critic died suddenly at the age of 32.

On Tuesday, January 30, information about the death of 32-year-old Agata Tomasiewicz appeared on the Facebook profile of the monthly “Teatr”. The news shocked the young journalist’s editorial colleagues. “Nothing foreshadowed her sudden death. For the February issue of the monthly magazine, Agata prepared a review of her student diploma and another episode of the ‘Focus on…’ series, in which she presented the profiles of young artists,” we read in the post.

Agata Tomasiewicz graduated from the Faculty of Theater Studies at the Warsaw Theater Academy. She started working for the monthly “Teatr” magazine shortly afterwards. She published reviews and interviews in the magazine. She also had several professional successes: she was the winner of the 4th edition of the National Competition. Andrzej Żurowski for young critics, she also won third place in the Competition for the best master’s thesis in the field of knowledge about theater, spectacle and performance. She was a member of the artistic committee in the 29th National Competition for the Exhibition of Polish Contemporary Art. She also worked at the ADiT publishing house.

People associated with the theater community also said goodbye to the journalist. Wiesław Kowalski, editor-in-chief of “Teatr dla Was”, wrote on Facebook: “It’s hard for me to believe it, because I still remember our trips last year as part of OKnWPSW…”. Remigiusz Grzela, literary director of the Jewish Theater, mentioned the exceptional talent of the young journalist: “Agata Tomasiewicz was a brilliant author. This is a great loss for Polish theater criticism.”
