Eurovision 2024. It is known which semi-final Poland will appear in. Smaller but strong competition

Eurovision 2024. The semi-final lineups of this year’s competition have been announced! Poland will play on the first day.

2024 is fast approaching. As every year, the competition will take place in May, and now the difficult process of selecting representatives of subsequent countries is underway. It is not yet known who from Poland will go to Malmo, Sweden, but it is known when exactly Poland will perform. This will be the first day of the semi-final auditions – this one is a bit more comfortable, because there is less competition.

Eurovision 2024. It is known which Poland will perform

As always, the Eurovision performances were divided into two semi-finals and one semi-final. Candidates from 31 countries will face each other in two semi-finals: on May 7 and May 9. The final is scheduled for Saturday, May 11.

Polish pre-selections for the competition have not taken place yet, but it is already known that our country will play in the first half of the first semi-final. It is not yet known in what order the next teams will appear – this will be determined later. We did not get into any group of death, in fact, we have an even better start than the participants from the second semi-final. Our direct competition is from fewer countries than when we performed two days later.

Nevertheless, we will have to face such strongmen as Iceland, Finland, Ukraine and Australia. These countries have had an almost automatic place in the finals for years thanks to their great competition proposals. Will Poland manage to grab one of the ten spots scheduled for the semi-finals? We won’t find out until May, but some things can be concluded now.

Eurovision. The end of voting “neighborly”?

The organizers point out that countries were qualified to participate in a specific semi-final also taking into account their geographical location. Theoretically, some attempts were made to avoid the so-called voting. next door, where entire groups of countries supported each other due to their common border. Greece has always voted for Cyprus and vice versa, the Balkan countries supported each other, Great Britain voted for Ireland, etc. It was decided to separate the cliques a bit, but it did not work out everywhere.

In our group, Poland is in a fortunate position. Not only can it get votes from neighboring Ukraine (although, as last year showed, for example, these votes are by no means certain). Our group also includes Ireland, where a large group of Poles still lives, and Great Britain will also vote, which can still help us a lot. We only have five countries to overcome and if our proposal this year is at least of some quality, we should reach the finals without any stress.

Eurovision 2024. Who will sing from Poland?

As for the Polish national team, nothing is certain yet. Unofficially, it is said that Justyna Steczkowska is a strong candidate for the competition this year. The singer has admitted more than once that she would be happy to sing – like Edyta Górniak – on the Eurovision stage. , who will go to Malmo on our behalf. And there are many to choose from, because so far as many as 80 people have expressed their willingness to perform in Eurovision, and this is not a closed list yet. TVP collects applications until February 2.

Apart from Justyna Steczkowska, there is talk of Kuba Szmajkowski, the last winner of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”, and Janek Górka – winner of “The Voice of Poland”. Edyta Górniak (!) and Doda also mention the competition.
