Radio Maryja is organizing a crusade against the morning after pill. “Destroys unborn life”

It is difficult to put it into words in any other way: Tadeusz Rydzyk’s media – Radio Maryja and Telewizja TRWAM – literally cannot recover from the January announcement of the new government regarding the restoration of free access to the morning-after pill. – All this is truly terrifying – say guests and commentators invited there every day.

In accordance with the decision of the new government of Donald Tusk and the announcement of January 15 this year, Polish women are to regain access to emergency contraception without a prescription – the so-called morning after pills. Let us recall that Law and Justice deprived Polish women of this right over seven years ago.

– We are talking about the freest possible access to contraceptives, or more precisely – the so-called the “morning after” pill – said Prime Minister Tusk. – As a government, we will jointly propose an amendment to the act at this very point, making this type of contraceptives available without a prescription. It is no secret that during the rule of our predecessors, Poland became the only country, next to Hungary – not coincidentally – in Europe that introduced this restriction limiting the possibility of using this measure – he added at the press conference.

The Civic Coalition has been demanding the restoration of free access to EllaOne from the very beginning. The bill is ready to be submitted to the Sejm.

EllaOne caused a “fire” in Rydzyk’s media. “Directly abortive action”

Since the announcement of this information by Donald Tusk, Radio Maryja and Telewizja TRWAM – the media belonging to Father Tadeusz Rydzyk – have been hosting Catholic publicists and anti-choice activists every day, who fiercely criticize the new government’s initiative. However, the conservative community was particularly outraged by the fact that the new government intends to introduce an age limit at which the pill can be taken.

– We followed medical recommendations and set the age limit at 15. According to medical opinions, the average age when it comes to achieving reproductive capacity, from which point the pill should be applicable, is approximately 15 years. An age limit had to be set, said Donald Tusk when asked by journalists in the Sejm.

So, on Radio Maryja and Telewizja TRWAM, there is practically no day without intimidating listeners about the alleged harmfulness of EllaOne. The president of the Polish Association of Human Life Defenders, Wojciech ZiÄ™ba, “warned” on TV TRWAM, for example, against sex education. – This is very dangerous. Currently, in Polish schools we have the subject of education for family life, which teaches abstinence, delaying sexual initiation, and fidelity to one partner or spouse, and this has a good effect – he argued.

As the priest argued, prof. Piotr Kieniewicz, member of the Polish Episcopal Conference team for bioethics, theologian and moralist, “we are talking about drugs that have a contraceptive effect, but also have an early abortive effect.” – (…) EllaOne is another preparation that has a direct abortive effect – he said in the “News of the Day” program of Radio Maryja.

Radio Maryja about the morning after pill. “Appalling”

In another Radio Maryja program, Magdalena Guziak-Nowak from the Polish Association of Human Life Defenders spoke. – A child, a young person aged 15, cannot buy a can of beer or energy drinks in a store, and can have intercourse without the knowledge and consent of their parents, and then go to a pharmacy and buy an early abortifacient drug that can have an effect on the young girl’s body and on the life that it was conceived. This is all really terrifying, she claimed.

This is what Ewa Kowalewska, director of Human Life International Polska, quoted by Radio Maryja says: “Many people do not understand that the morning-after pill is a drug that destroys conceived life (…). There is a proposal to make it over the counter and then someone he can abuse it,” we read.

EllaOne. What is emergency contraception and how does it work?

When talking about EllaOne and its operation, it is worth knowing a few important facts. First of all, it is a medical device that works as a contraceptive, not an early abortifacient. It is an emergency contraception that prevents or delays ovulation, thus preventing the implantation of an embryo or fertilized egg in the uterus.

It is called emergency contraception because it can be used in emergencies, after unprotected sex, or when another method of contraception has failed. It should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours of intercourse, and a maximum of 5 days (120 hours) after intercourse. It is worth noting that this is an emergency method and should not be used as regular contraception. EllaOne contains a much higher concentration of hormones than a regular contraceptive pill.

It should also be noted that EllaOne will not be useful if ovulation has already occurred. It also does not terminate an unwanted pregnancy. The product contains ulipristal acetate, whose main task is to inhibit or delay ovulation. the rest of the ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.
