Quite recently, a new restaurant was opened in Warsaw. “Madonna” is keeping Catholics awake at night due to its interior design, which they consider “blasphemous.” In the pub you will find many references to Our Lady, e.g. in the form of paintings in which the face of Mary was replaced by a portrait of Rihanna.
Catholics prayed in front of a “blasphemous” restaurant in Warsaw. “Repent”
Next to altered images of Our Lady, we can also see very sensual photos, neon signs with the quote “not today Satan” and “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints” (I prefer to laugh with sinners, than to cry with the saints) with the symbol of folded hands in prayer. As if that wasn’t enough, in “Madonna” guests can drink from a naked female bust. This was too much for the believers.
The first protest against the restaurant’s activities took place right after its opening, but did not attract many participants. The next event was slightly better organized and a large group of believers appeared at the “Madonna” wearing Polish flags and a banner proclaiming that those gathered were praying a public rosary for the “moral renewal of the Polish nation.”
The woman laid down on a cross under the “Madonna” in Warsaw. “Hell exists!” – she cried
Among the crowd, an elderly woman stood out, clutching a rosary in her hands and prostrating herself with a cross in front of the entrance to the premises. “Convert, hell is real, Mary is crying tears of blood,” the woman shouted, raising her hands to the sky. And all this because of a restaurant decorated with devotional items.
“Grandma Kasia”, an activist who is popular in Warsaw and often takes part in protests, also appeared on site. The woman came to the protest wearing a headband with horns and an image of the Rainbow Mary on her chest. The presence of the counter-protester did not please those gathered and a short scuffle and sharp exchange of words broke out between the two women.
Believers, whom God commands to love their neighbor, also prayed for all those who do not agree with the dogmas of their faith. “That you would deign to humiliate the enemies of the Holy Church, we beg you, listen to us” – was heard under the “Madonna”. “This protest is the best advertising” – we read in the comments under the materials from the restaurant. “When I’m in Warsaw, I’ll definitely stop by,” writes another person. “And all this is happening in the 21st century” – another one is in disbelief.
