This is a very common mistake. Pay attention to the ground

The areca palm is one of the largest houseplants available. It definitely beautifies the house, thanks to its feathery leaves. We can immediately buy specimens over a meter high, which become a strong decorative accent. Apparently, the palm tree only needs to be fertilized and watered regularly. Despite this, it may languish. Fortunately, on the Internet you can find more and more profiles of specialists in the field who share their knowledge and experience. Dawid runs a very valuable Instagram profile @roślinnehistorie advises transplanting the palm into fresh soil, because the store-bought soil may often not be very fertile and dries out quickly. This is a mistake that is often made.

Importantly, it’s not just about adding more soil and a new pot. The roots should be cleaned and, if possible, the old soil removed. Then transplant into an appropriately composed substrate. Dawid recommends this composition:

1. three handfuls of universal earth,

2. three handfuls of composted coniferous bark,

3. two handfuls of perlite,

4. two handfuls of charcoal.

A great idea is a specialized substrate for palm trees.

After transplanting into a pot with drainage, make sure that the soil is constantly slightly moist. Place the plant in a bright position, with diffused light. Sprinkle the palm, but remember that this may result in a fungal disease if the palm is in the shade. Many people recommend placing a humidifier nearby to prevent the tips from drying out.
