There used to be prizes! Fiat 126p and a wall unit. What could you win in “Go all the way”?

It was a real hit of the 1990s. The game show “Id¼ na¶ćo¶” broke viewership records for 4 years, attracting a multi-million audience. It aroused no less interest among the participants, who did everything to attract the attention of the presenter and take part in the game. And there was something to fight for. What rewards did those who took the risk and “went all the way” get?

is a cult Polsat game show that debuted on the air at the beginning of September 1997, becoming a huge hit almost immediately. During the broadcast of each episode, crowds of loyal viewers gathered in front of the screens, and at the peak viewership was up to 10 million. In the fight for the audience, it even outstripped TVP’s “Wiadomości”, which at that time was a definite pioneer among news services. This is not surprising, because all it took was a bit of luck to be able to leave the studio with awards that Poles could only dream of back then.

What was the “Go for it” program? Knowledge was not necessary at all

The program formula was simple and accessible to almost everyone. The host, who was Zbigniew Chajzer for the first three years, chose from among the people in the audience those he invited to join in the fun. However, before this happened, the participants had to attract attention somehow. Most often, they were helped by extravagant, colorful costumes. The proposed games were diverse and the competitions covered many areas. What’s more, players could decide about the prizes they won – from exchanging them for others, to selling or bidding. The one whose prizes had the highest financial value entered the finals.

At the end, he chose one of the three so-called gates or boxes that contained the final winnings. And there were a lot of them. Some of the most luxurious include: Fiat 126p straight from the showroom, Ford Escort, household appliances, including coffee machines and kitchen machines, and even furniture sets. However, it happened that someone found a cat hidden in a bag. It was the so-called Zonk that caused the loss of everything. He is a clear example of how popular this show was, because the mascot’s name has become a permanent part of everyday language and is today used as a synonym for bad luck.

Perhaps “Go All the Way” would still be a hit if it weren’t for the unexpected change of host in September 2000. After his departure, his place was taken by Krzysztof Tyniec, but he was not as good in this role as his predecessor. The change of host also involved a complete metamorphosis of the format. From the introduction of new opening credits and music to the scenography. The colors characteristic of the formula were suddenly replaced with black, and the casual mood and atmosphere took on a more formal form. For this reason, the viewership dropped cyclically until the production of another series became completely unprofitable and the decision was made to permanently remove it from the schedule.

Will “Go for it” return to Polsat’s schedule? Speculation continues

In recent months, there has been more and more talk about plans to reactivate the format, which Zbigniew Chajzer is particularly keen on. Similar rumors have circulated several times before and have never been confirmed. This time, however, it will be different, because the idea is also supported by the presenter’s son, who has apparently already talked to the program director about this matter. – Filip Chajzer came to Edward Miszczak with the idea to reactivate the format. He could host the program together with Zygmunt Chajzer, who is not only the former host, but also his father – says the portal’s informant. So far, it is not known whether the idea was approved by the president of the station, or what final decisions would be made on this matter, but it is worth mentioning that it was during Chazjer’s times that “Go for it” was a real sensation.
