When to mow the grass after winter? Rushing is not advisable. One thing is important

After the winter, it is worth taking proper care of your lawn so that it looks beautiful in the summer. When should you start fertilizing it? And at what point is it best to mow for the first time so as not to damage the blades?

Many of us would like the lawn to resemble a lush green carpet in the summer. However, for this to happen, we must first take care of it. When the snow stops, you often find that the grass is not in the best condition. In such a case, strengthening fertilizer should be used to avoid dry and yellow spots. You should also postpone the first mowing.

When to fertilize your lawn after winter? Apply this fertilizer and it will grow lush green

If you notice any losses after winter, they should be replenished before fertilizing. Just rake the soil in places where there are dry patches, prepare grooves, pour in the seeds and cover again. Do not over-water so that the seeds do not flow out. It is best to irrigate once a day for 2 weeks. Once the grass sprouts, it’s time to apply fertilizer. Instead of buying it in a store, we can make it ourselves. We need:

  • 1.5 liters of mineral water,
  • half a glass of dishwashing liquid,
  • can,
  • half a glass of mouthwash
  • half a glass of ammonia
  • barrel of water.

Mix all the ingredients and water the grass once every 3 weeks. Home-made conditioner will make the blades grow stronger, gain a beautiful color and will also be protected against pests. The first fertilization should be carried out at the turn of March and April.

When to mow the grass after winter? Do it at the right time and it will grow thick and green

There is no need to rush the first post-winter lawn mowing. The most important rule is to look at the blades and reach for the mower only when they start to grow. However, the grass should not be too low. It is worth waiting until it grows a little and mowing it when it reaches about 6 cm. Then we will be sure that it is sufficiently rooted and we will not damage it.
