It all started at the Warsaw theater school, where he met his first crush, Małgorzata. They were united by their common passion and love for the stage. They quickly became a couple, and right after graduating, their son, Franciszek, was born. When they decided to get married in 1985, their second child, Sonia, was on the way. Although they believed that they would be together forever, life quickly verified their plans.

The wife partially abandoned her own ambitions to take care of the house and raise the children. At that time, he played in the theater and also appeared in TV series and films, developing his career. Over time, things stopped going between the spouses. They didn’t get along and even mundane problems led to arguments. – We stopped getting along a long time ago. After 24 years, he had reached a stage when nothing could be straightened out or explained. In fact, everything started to go wrong a year after the wedding. Then there was a crisis of trust and since then things have never been completely OK again – in an interview for “Gala”.
At one point, Machlica even moved out of the house and it became clear to everyone that a divorce was only a matter of time. It was then that Edyta Olszówka, who was over 15 years his junior, appeared in his life and he fell in love with her without memory. When his wife found out he had it, she completely changed her tactics. – She took on the role of a victim – said the actress. The court battle wasn’t the only problem the couple had to face. Małgorzata gave numerous interviews, complaining that her husband left her with two children, although they were 27 and 24 years old at the time. – She rented an apartment next door to where I have lived for years. This sick situation in the name of “you will not experience happiness” led to us running away to the countryside, several dozen kilometers from Warsaw – said Olszówka.

The fight in court lasted for 5 years. When Machalica finally regained his freedom, the problems did not end. It turned out that at the time his wife had taken out loans for her own business, which she did not repay, and it was him that the bailiff turned to in order to collect the debt. – When I saw how much the bank wanted from me, I thought I was going to have a heart attack – he said in “Viva”. It should also be emphasized that during the divorce, the actor did not claim rights to the joint property, even though he made a significant contribution to it. – It occurred to me that my wife always loved money more than I did. I left her all my life’s work. Soon after, it turned out that I had no house, no car, nothing at all. The only thing I have are debts that I will pay off for the rest of my life – he said bitterly in “Gala”.
Olszówka tried to support him in difficult times, but the constantly accumulating problems had a significant impact on their relationship. This led to a breakup, after which they became friends. – The mistakes I made ruined my life for a few years. Instead of living, I had to work hard. But it worked. I already have these unfortunate financial stories behind me – said Machalica in “Viva”, adding that despite everything he knows that the fault always lies on both sides.
