In 2011, she received the Medal of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Tadeusz Kotarbiński for outstanding achievements in the field of organization and management and for charity activities. Surrounded by distinguished guests present at the Congress House in Jabłonna near Warsaw, the artist felt nervous and intimidated. “I felt for a moment as if I was on another planet. It was dignified, elegant, and for me, touching,” she reported. She emphasized that she was not a management specialist and lacked economic or managerial knowledge.
Anna Dymna has been spreading sensitivity for years. People are not always as understanding towards her
“The principles of my management are simple: I know who I help and I always see the goal, I have people around me who also see this goal and have the same attitude towards our actions as I do. I act honestly, transparently and with unwavering dedication,” she emphasized. The actress adheres to similar values in her professional work.
Anna Dymna made her debut on the stage of the Theater. J. Słowacki in Krakow in 1970 as Isia and Chochoł in “The Wedding” by S. Wyspiański, directed by Lidia Zamkow. Her career was full of numerous awards and distinctions. She became famous throughout Poland after she played the role of Anna Pawlakówna in “Samimy Sami”. The 20-year-old’s beauty and talent delighted viewers and creators, who eagerly offered her more roles. The actress played unforgettable roles in “Janosik” and “Quack”.
“For a performance to be created, an actor must – apart from talent and emotions – be specific, precise, humble, which means he must learn to act efficiently. But throughout my life, I also learn sensitivity to other people in this profession. I think that by working on many roles “Over these many years, I have been learning to understand people, I have tried to empathize with their situation, understand their sufferings, complexes and feelings,” Dymna said about her approach to acting.
She started her career in the 1970s. She sacrificed herself for the role and received… PLN 150
Unfortunately, the world does not always reward Dymna with good for her invaluable sensitivity. In the program “Podcasting. When I grow up, I will be an actress” the actress talked about her difficult beginnings, which occurred in the times of the Polish People’s Republic, when there was no support from agents. “No one fought for my rates, the producers did whatever they wanted with me. I always told them: please pay me as much as you can and think you can,” recalls the actress.
One of the first productions in which Dymna took part was Tadeusz Konwicki’s film “How Far From Here, How Close” from 1971. To star in the production, the actress had to take a leave of absence from her studies. The artist lost a year at university and received PLN 150 for the film. However, this is not the end of the unpleasantness that Dymna experienced during the project.
On the set, the actress had to endure taunts from extras. “Look, she’s a piece of shit, she can’t do anything, she’s so skinny, and if she plays with Łapicki, she’ll buy a house and buy a car,” the famous actress recalled in a sarcastic conversation, knowing how much she would earn from the film.
They once gushed over her beauty. Years later, they are calling names on the streets
Almost 55 years have passed since the actress’s debut. It is completely normal that a woman does not look the way some viewers remember her from cult films. There are more wrinkles and the body has changed, but no feature has deprived Dymna of her beauty. The actress still delights with her beautiful thick hair and warmth in her eyes. However, not everyone can refrain from making malicious comments. Dymna admitted that she sometimes hears them on the street.
“The films ‘Nie ma mocch’, ‘Janosik’ and ‘Quack’ are still shown on TV, so the contrast is even greater. I’m walking down the street and someone calls out: ‘Jesus Maria, you’ve become such a mess. You used to be so pretty.’ . I also heard: ‘You fat teddy bear, don’t eat so much’, or ‘What the hell were you doing at night to make you look like that! Yesterday I saw you in a movie, you were pretty, and today what?’ – said the actress in an interview for “Twój Styl”.
