In 2021, the first information appeared that Abrams was producing a new Superman film. No details of the film’s plot have been revealed, but Superman would exist in an alternate universe (Elseworld) rather than the one Gunn creates for “Superman Legacy.”
In Gunn, David Corenswet will be the next Man of Steel, and Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane. “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to premiere on July 11, 2025. As for Abrams’ actors, there is no specific information yet – it is said that the creator of “Lost” would like his Superman to be black – it would probably be Calvin Ellis from Earth-23, known from the comics. Let us recall that a few weeks earlier, at the studio’s request, he announced that he would return to playing Superman and resigned from the role of the witcher Geralt in the Netflix production. Some fans have still not come to terms with the change in DC or in the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books (Cavilla was replaced by Liam Hemsworth).
