Due to Dariusz Matecki’s request for access to public information, the earnings of the most important TVP journalists recently became famous. The MP from Sovereign Poland asked the television to present copies of contracts with new journalists.
How much do new TVP journalists earn? The highest salary is PLN 35,000.
“The times have come to an end when journalists in the Company, in the period when its activities were financed mainly from public funds, received sums of around one million zlotys annually,” replied Daniel Gorgosz, the company’s liquidator. However, individual contracts were not transferred to the MP. Gorgosz invoked the “right to privacy of third parties.”
However, the liquidator revealed that currently “the highest salary at TVP is PLN 35,000 gross per month, i.e. PLN 420,000 gross per year, and only one person from those indicated by the MP earns this amount.” Let us recall that Matecki was interested in the earnings of Marek Czyż, Paweł Płuska, Maciej Orłoś, Danuta Dobrzyńska, Marcin Antosiewicz, Dorota Bawołek, Jarosław Kulczycki, Sławomir Siezieniewski and Tomasz Marc, who left the editorial office of “19.30” at the beginning of January.

The Wirtualna Polska portal reached some journalists, but none of them wanted to disclose the amount they earn from TVP. – I can’t say anything more than what the company’s liquidator said – declares Pawe³ Płuska, head of “19.30”. – One thing is certain – as he said: we earn much, much less than our predecessors. I will only add that hardly anyone, when deciding to work for the new TVP, looked at the salary and asked about it. We came here mainly to reform public media, not to earn a fortune, he added.
Marek Czy¿ also commented on rumors about his earnings. Currently, the journalist is the biggest star of “19.30”, hence the speculation that he earns high amounts. – Of course, I cannot reveal my exact earnings because it is a company secret – he noted. However, he added that it was within the “range” provided by Gorgosz. – I can also add that the information circulating on the Internet that I earn PLN 87,000 PLN, it’s an absolute fake. I earn monumentally less, he added.

It is worth recalling here that the old guard earned exorbitant amounts of money from TVP. Michał Adamczyk collected PLN 1.5 million gross annually, Samuel Pereira – PLN 440,000. Thanks to her work at Telewizja Polska, Danuta Holecka also became a millionaire, earning PLN 4 million net in five years.
Until recently, TVP also used the unpopular practice of paying experts for their statements. Before the revolution introduced by the new government, Polish Television commentators earned PLN 500 per appearance, the record holder thus earned PLN 300,000 a year. According to WP, paying for expert statements on TVP is a thing of the past. “I do not receive money for comments in ‘7:30’ and on public radio,” declares Ewa Siedlecka from the weekly “Polityka” in an interview with the portal.
