According to the journalist, Chris’s message was a response to a photo she posted on social media to celebrate the New Year. “It all started on New Year’s Day when I posted a photo of me looking forward to the new year in a gold sequin bikini,” Angela began. After some time, she received a message from Chris that read: “Happy New Year, your crotch is shining.” The journalist was initially convinced that she had misread the message from her work colleague. “I ignored it, hoping it would go away on its own, or maybe that’s what I imagined. A few hours later, he called me and said ‘hello’,” we hear later in the statement.
Rye also did not react to this news. The journalist was afraid to tell anyone about the incident for fear of losing her job, but three weeks later she was fired anyway. According to Rye, the two situations were related. Chris spoke to her again in 2023, this time asking if she was mad at him. However, the journalist admitted that the only person she was angry with at that moment was herself. “I was angry with myself for not saying anything earlier because I lacked courage and preferred a good financial situation over mental health,” she concluded.
