The famous bear is celebrating. We celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day

Who doesn’t know Winnie the Pooh? The famous teddy bear from Alan Alexander Milne’s fairy tale has been with us for almost a hundred years, and the adventures of the Hundred Acre Wood still warm the hearts of the youngest readers.

Winnie the Pooh is a fictional character in children’s literature created by British writer Alan Alexander Milne. And although the first book about the adventures of a clumsy teddy bear was published on October 14, 1926, the date of his holiday is not related to it at all.

Why January 18th? On this day in 1882, AA Milne was born in London. He wrote a book about the heroes of the Hundred Acre Wood for his son, Christopher Robin. In the first novel about Winnie the Pooh, there was, of course, the title character, accompanied by Piglet, Eeyore, Smart Owl, Rabbit, Mama Kanga, Rabbit’s family and Christopher Robin, modeled on the author’s child. The character of crazy Tigger appears in the second part of the adventures of the group, “Pooh’s Cabin”.

He was inspired by his son. The toys have been preserved to this day

Where did the name of the main character of the book come from? AA Milne was inspired by his son’s stuffed toy (Winnie-the-Pooh). The remaining ones also served as prototypes of literary characters, and today we can see them in the New York Public Library as museum exhibits.

Although Winnie the Pooh Day is celebrated primarily by the youngest – in kindergartens and the first grades of primary school, it is also a good opportunity for adults to recall the adventures of the group from the fictional Hundred Acre Wood. Let’s sit down with our children to read together and, at least for a moment, let’s devote ourselves to unbridled joy and fantasy.

Fairy tale or maybe horror? Cinema full of diversity

Cinema fans, in turn, can watch a whole series of films devoted to the adventures of the characters from AA Milne’s book, produced by Disney. At the same time, they are an extension of the entire world presented on the pages of the novel. The bravest ones can choose yet another position. “Pooh: Blood and Honey” is a horror film from last year, which is quite an original response to previous adaptations. After parting with Krzyƛ, fairy-tale characters become bloodthirsty beasts. If you choose this position, we recommend putting your children to sleep earlier.
