When will the summer time change in 2024? We already know whether we will change our clocks for the last time

Some people are already looking forward to spring and wondering when the change to summer time will take place in 2024. We know the specific date! We also know whether this will be the last time we have to change our clocks by an hour in Poland.

Summer time applies not only in Poland, but in almost 70 countries around the world. However, not everyone is in favor of this solution. This is shown, for example, by CBOS conducted in March 2019. As many as 78.3 percent of respondents would like to abolish the time change, while 74 percent of respondents would support maintaining summer time. Is there a chance that we will switch for the last time in 2024?

When will the time change from winter to summer 2024? This is not a random day

When is decided not by chance, but by the EU directive of January 2001. It states that it must be the last Sunday in March. In 2024, we will change the time on the night from March 30 to March 31. Then we have to move the clocks from 2:00 to 3:00, so we will sleep one hour less.

Elimination of time change in Poland. Since when do we stop changing our clocks?

The chance that the time change would be abolished appeared in 2018, when the European Commission presented a draft directive on this matter. Poland even supported it. Unfortunately, the pandemic soon came and the work was suspended. There is no information that they will be resumed even after the pandemic has ended. The time change will definitely apply until at least 2026.

The work related to the issuance of the new regulation is therefore related to the new communication of the European Commission on time changes in 2022-2026. According to this document, all EU member states must prepare legal provisions on the basis of which the current arrangements related to time changes will be continued

– informed the then deputy minister Olga Semeniuk.
