It’s about physical conditions. In an interview with Angelika Swoboda, Wiktor Zborowski mentioned how his height (the actor is 197 cm) influenced his work. It wasn’t always easy.
Wiktor Zborowski: I got some roles just because of my height
– My height prevented me from playing many roles, certainly in films. In the times when I started, people were rather looking for people who were not particularly distinguished by their size or height. But I also got some roles precisely because of my height, for example in “CK Dezerterzy”, where each of the five main characters had to be different – says Zborowski. A moment later, the name of Tomasz Kot is mentioned, who played, among others, in “Cold War”, nominated for three Oscars and awarded the Palme d’Or in Cannes for the director.
– I’m glad that as someone of above-average height, I paved the way for other tall actors. For example, Tomasz Kot, who is a fantastic actor. Once, many years ago, he approached me at the Actor’s Song Festival in Wrocław and said that he wanted to apply to acting school. I replied: “Of course, pass the exam, maybe one day I’ll play your father.” And it worked, because we played father and son in Agnieszka Holland’s “Pokot” – says Zborowski, and then adds:
I consider Tomek to be such a great actor that I once said: I thank God that I was born 25 years before Tomek Kot, because if not, I would have played shit.
Of course, this is only his opinion, but we are glad that we can still watch his roles as Longinus Podbipina in “With Fire and Sword”, Moryc Haber in “CK Dezerterzy”, Świętopełek Świerszczyński in “Pokot” or hear his voice as Mufasa in ” “The Lion King” or singing a bedtime song about the Moomins. Zborowski will soon return to the big screen as staroste Zygmunt Maciejak. He will once again play the role of the hero known from the previous parts of “Kogla Mogla” in the fifth part of the series. The premiere of “Baby boom or Kogel Mogel 5” is scheduled for January 26 this year.
