The Polish series is a hit on Netflix in 54 countries
We are talking about the series “with Borys Szyc. The production debuted on the platform on January 11 and in just three days it gathered almost five million viewers. Netflix subscribers from all over the world spent over 20 million hours with the detective.
It is not surprising that the series was most popular in Poland, where it topped the weekly list of popular productions. However, almost the entire world wanted to know the story from “Forst”. The Polish crime drama hit Netflix’s Top 10 in as many as 54 countries. These included Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Austria, Canada, Germany, Ukraine, Switzerland, Serbia, Cyprus, Morocco, Sweden, Lithuania and Italy.
Despite its great popularity, “Forst” met with considerable criticism from viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, viewers rated the series only 37 percent on the freshness scale. Foreign reviewers are slightly more positive about the production. Jonathon Wilson from Ready Steady Cut writes that the series is filled with “obviousness and worn-out clichés”, but encourages you to watch it due to the “raw photos and cold atmosphere” that refer to the first season of “True Detective”.
In Poland, viewers rated the series 4.9 stars on Filmweb. “The worst dialogues I’ve heard in a long time. But the cinematography, scenography and soundtrack are top notch.” – writes about the series the editor-in-chief of the portal, Łukasz Muszyński, who advises viewers to turn on foreign dubbing during the screening.
