Saturday evening, August 14, 2021, was exceptionally warm. Sebastian Sierpiński was returning from work with his boss, Krystian P. They were making a routine tour of the entire building around the farm. They were passing through the area of the town of Wirówek near Gryfinem. It was already late, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Suddenly, a young employee ran out of the car and disappeared into the corn field. And he sank into the ground. Literally, because no one has seen him since. None of his belongings were found.
Only a month after the disappearance, a straw hat was found, very similar to the one the man was wearing on the fateful evening. However, investigators did not clearly confirm that it belonged to Sebastian. As Onet described in September, he was found not in a corn field, but much further – near the farm where the young man was employed.
His parents found out on Tuesday that Sebastian jumped out of the car in the middle of a field and disappeared. They called P. themselves because they were concerned about the lack of response from their son. The services started combing fields and green areas in the mentioned area only 4 days after his disappearance. Later, they returned there many times and searched the surrounding swamp. This had no effect.

Sebastian worked for Krystian P. for only a few weeks, but – according to his parents’ reports – he was rather satisfied. He talked to his dad the day before he disappeared. Although they both live in Norway, they have a close relationship with their son. Sebastian himself decided to return to Poland.

However, the person who saw the man for the last time is Krystian P. He testified that just before escaping from the car, the 26-year-old began to behave strangely. He claimed that the employee began to become nervous, suspicious and looking around. Suddenly he just jumped out of the car and ran into the field ahead.
I called for him for half an hour until I finally drove home. I thought it was a joke
– Krystian P allegedly told investigators. His testimony was quoted by Onet. It was he who reported the disappearance of his employee at the instigation of the Sierpiński family.

Krystyna Sierpińska emphasizes that although she tries to live with hope, each year is more difficult. – From the perspective of us, parents, it is getting worse, because in fact – you can still believe and hope. There is no hard evidence that he does not exist. But there is no proof that he is alive. He did not make any contact with us, there is no trace of him. It was as if he had sunk into the ground – he tells us today.

Since 2021, she and her husband have been stuck in one big unknown. Sometimes they receive limited information about further findings and next steps of the prosecutor’s office. Although they most often learn about them from the media – as recently, when one person related to the case was arrested in September 2023. Onet reported about it, and unofficially it was said that he was Sebastian’s boss. Nothing has changed in the case for a long time, so the man’s arrest is considered a breakthrough.
“The arrest of the man, which took place in September, may be the first major breakthrough in the disappearance case. Unofficially, it is said that he is Sebastian’s friend. It is also unofficially known that the charge brought against him is most likely not related to murder.” – . However, the prosecutor’s office has not disclosed any details of the investigation so far.

Everyday functioning requires enormous effort. – I try to trust the police because I see that the case is ongoing. However, I don’t see any results yet. And I have mixed feelings. Sometimes it seems to me that nothing is being explained, because it is simply impossible for a person to vanish into thin air… on the other hand, I see that these activities are being carried out, activities are being undertaken – says Mrs. Krystyna. So the state of suspension continues.
Since the man’s disappearance, there have been many speculations and theories about what happened on that late summer evening near Gryfino. – We can make various hypotheses. As I said: there is no proof that he is gone, so we might as well stick to the version that our son is alive. But you can also go for the worst-case scenario. You can go for the optimistic version, although it seems less possible. On that day he was only 26 years old. A young, healthy, fit guy…
Krystyna Sierpińska says that Sebastian suffered a head injury a few months before he disappeared. – Maybe it would indicate memory loss or some other trauma? Maybe he managed to get to the border? Sebastian used to work in Germany, in the Netherlands. He speaks English and Norwegian fluently, wonders the man’s mother. He is in contact with many foreign websites on a daily basis. The man is listed in the database of missing persons throughout Europe.

Why didn’t P. immediately inform them about such a surprising behavior of his employee? – He maintains that he did not have any phone call to us. That Sebastian suddenly disappeared, on the one hand he took it seriously, on the other hand he didn’t know whether to worry about it or not. He sent a text message to Sebastian’s girlfriend, probably within an hour. Something like: “Sebastian played a trick on me and ran away.”
Ewelina Malinowska, founder of the Zaginieni All Poland Association, has been with Sebastian’s parents from the very beginning. He knows this matter well. – I helped Sebastian’s parents set up the “We are looking for Sebastian Sierpiński” group, but not much is currently happening in this case because the prosecutor’s office has a hand in it. In my opinion, the prosecutor’s office is still investigating the story of his boss, without telling the family too much – notes Malinowska.

One of the theories of Sebastian Sierpiński’s disappearance concerns the fact that Krystian P. was breeding a leopard on his property. The animal was supposed to be aggressive, but as Krystyna Sierpińska tells us, according to her information, it was protected from employees. In turn, the recordings of employees revealed by “Interwencja” could indicate that they had free access to the animal. However, it was emphasized that although a wild cat is capable of killing an adult human, there is no connection between it and the man’s disappearance.
