Joyce Randolph is dead. The actress played Thelma Norton in the original version of the series “The Honeymooners”, i.e. “The Honeymooners”. The star of the series passed away at the age of 99.

Joyce Randolph is dead. The death of the actress known from “The Honeymooners” was announced by her son in an interview with the Associated Press. The artist died in her sleep of natural causes, she was 99 years old. She was the last surviving member of the main cast of the famous series.

The series, beloved in Poland, is actually an American format that debuted on local television in 1955. The script for the comedy was created by Marvin Marx, based on the idea of ​​Jackie Gleason, who presented sketches featuring famous characters in his variety show.

The series “The Honeymooners” told the story of the life of New York bus driver Ralph Kramden and his wife Alice – in Poland we learned the fate of Warsaw tram driver Karol Krawczyk and his wife Alina. The late Joyce Randolph played the role of Trixie, Alice’s friend and wife of Ralph’s best friend, Ed Norton. The Polish equivalent of the heroine is Danka Norek, Tadzio Norek’s wife and the Krawczyks’ neighbor. However, Randolph was not the original Trixie, the character was first played by Elaine Stritch, but she was quickly replaced.

Joyce Randolph was the last surviving cast member of “The Honeymooners”

Randolph was born in 1924 in Detroit into a family of Finnish descent. After graduating from high school, she auditioned for the group Stage Door, with which she began collaborating. She soon moved to New York and began acting on Broadway. In 1951, she was featured in a sketch on Gleason’s show and was later cast as Trixie.

In interviews, the actress admitted that after appearing in the American version of “Honeymooners” it was difficult for her to get another role. She played in musicals, shot commercials and appeared several times in TV shows, but she admitted that most often she heard from directors that “she was too famous as Trixie”, so she couldn’t count on bigger roles.
