During the inspection at the Warsaw airport. There was an attempt to smuggle Fryderyk Chopin. A Ukrainian citizen traveling from Armenia and was to continue her journey to Belgium.

An unusual event occurred at Warsaw Chopin Airport. A Ukrainian citizen arrived from Armenia and went to the “nothing to report” crossing. However, officers of the Customs and Tax Service returned it for inspection.

Officers of the Masovian National Tax Administration (KAS) foiled an attempt to smuggle diamonds by a Ukrainian citizen traveling from Armenia. The whole situation took place in Warsaw at the airport. Fryderyk Chopin.

After landing, the passenger went to the “nothing to report” crossing, from where she was turned back by officers of the Customs and Tax Service. precious stones were found in her hand luggage. These were diamonds weighing almost 670 carats, or 134 g.

The woman purchased the diamonds legally. She also had invoices confirming their purchase. However, she did not inform the officers that she had them with her. The market value of the seized precious stones is estimated at PLN 1.5 million. In case diamonds for sale, the state treasury would lose over PLN 350,000. PLN due to unpaid tax. The case is being handled by the Masovian Customs and Tax Office in Warsaw. Now a Ukrainian woman traveling from Armenia faces a fine. KAS spokesman, junior asp. Justyna Pasieczyńska informed:

The officers found precious stones in her hand luggage. It was her only luggage. All smuggled stones are diamonds. Their weight is almost 670 carats, i.e. 134 g. The value of the seized precious stones is estimated at over PLN 1.5 million.
