In times of so many possibilities, it is worth being really vigilant. Fraudsters cleverly use new technologies to extort data or money. Be especially careful when reading suspicious messages. This time it was sent via SMS.

Criminals are looking for new ways to take advantage of our inattention. Therefore, it is worth taking a closer look at the messages we receive. Fraudsters can often impersonate well-known companies, government organizations, and even our loved ones whose social media accounts they have stolen. This time, however, they decided to send suspicious text messages.

The suspect’s content was published on CERT Orange Polska social media to warn the public against the new. It turns out that many Poles have recently received a suspicious SMS message. Its content shows that it allegedly comes from the Ministry of Interior and Administration. The content refers to the data on your ID card, which does not match the information in the ministry’s archives. Everything looks good at first glance, but the red light turns on a little later.

Later in the message, we are encouraged to click on a link to update our personal information. Such a requirement should immediately alert us to take a closer look at the content. In this case, you may notice that the link you submitted looks suspicious. It is unusual and certainly does not look like an address that would take us to an official government website. The real ones are most often linked to in the gov.pl domain or you may be asked to use the mObywatel application.

Where can I report a suspicious phone number? Don’t leave such text messages unanswered

As soon as we receive a suspicious SMS message, it is worth acting immediately. Such situations should be reported to CERT Polska, the team that deals with . All you need to do is forward a questionable message to the number 8080 and it is a completely free solution. However, if we want to send a suspicious SMS while outside the country, a fee will be charged in accordance with the operator’s tariff.
