In 2021, the Spaniard Tono Pineiro bought a house that had been abandoned for over four decades. He was just about to start renovating the roof when he found a hidden treasure inside the house. Six rusty Nesquik containers contained banknotes worth over PLN 240,000. PLN.

In 2021, Spaniard Tono Pineiro came across an advertisement on Facebook for the sale of an old . The previous owner, who, according to reports, worked in a nearby brick factory and traded cattle, died 40 years ago and left no descendants. The property remained uninhabited for many years and finally went up for sale. Tono Pineiro, a construction worker by profession, took advantage of the opportunity, but he did not expect what would happen to him.

While working inside the abandoned house, specifically in its walls, the man discovered six rusty Nesquik cans containing nine million Spanish pesetas. This is the equivalent of approximately PLN 240,000. PLN, although this currency was withdrawn in 2002 and replaced by the euro. The Spaniard, overcome with joy, collected them all and rushed to the bank.

There, his enthusiasm diminished significantly, as it turned out that half of the banknotes he found were no longer suitable for exchange. Pineiro was told that he was slightly late, the deadline for the exchange was June 2021. – They said it was no longer possible – he admitted, adding that he was initially “furious”.

The man swallowed this happiness in misfortune, but the find did not turn out to be completely worthless. He received 30,000 in the bank. euro (approx. PLN 130,000). He decided to keep some of the banknotes as a souvenir, and the rest, as he admitted, he would try to sell to collectors. – I got my new roof back – he added. He also did not hide his surprise at the condition in which the banknotes had been preserved for 40 years. – I think that [poprzedni właściciel – red.] he kept them in containers to protect them from moisture. The last ones were slightly damaged, but most were in perfect condition. It’s amazing, he admitted.

As “The Sun” reports, neighbors confirmed that the previous owner had a habit of hiding money in various places. It happened to him that he hid them in agricultural equipment and forgot about it, as a result of which he sold it later as a surprise for the new owner.
