TV Republika has gained viewers after major changes. Those who have not come to terms with the new, rather calm narrative in the main news channel can find aggression, brawls and tabloid slogans in the station managed by Tomasz Sakiewicz. As it turns out, there is no shortage of such people, the information service of Telewizja Republika “Dzisiaj” saw a 30-fold increase in viewership in the period from December 20, 2023 to January 9. During this time, the program was watched by an average of 424,000 viewers.
A TV Republika viewer gave a thumbs up to the presenter
On Telewizja Republika we can watch programs hosted by Danuta Holecka, Michał Rachoń and Miłosz Kłeczek – previously associated with TVP. In addition, Jacek Sobala, who worked for Polish Radio and TVP Info, also hosts his own program. The journalist hosted Wednesday’s special edition of the “Saying…” program, in which viewers can call in.
Jacek Sobala spoke about, among others, Donald Tusk and Andrzej Duda. However, when talking about the current Prime Minister, the journalist could not say any positive or even neutral words. He decided to use a rather inelegant trick.
Jacek Sobala called Donald Tusk a “quick heat” on TV Republika
“Mr. Editor so eagerly used the term ‘quick heat’ towards Donald Tusk that Mr. Szymon from Poznań called him and organized a culture school for him” – we read on the X website, where we can also listen to the editor’s arguments regarding his behavior.
Sobala explained in the program that when Donald Tusk announced his return to politics, he did not know how to accurately describe it. Most of the terms that came to the journalist’s mind “are not suitable for public use,” he emphasized on Republika TV. According to Sobala, the use of the term “quick heat” was accepted by his colleagues and lawyers. “I’m just worried about making a mistake,” added the editor.
At the same time, Sobala emphasizes that he is not advocating following his example and graciously agrees to refer to Donald Tusk by his name or the function he performs. One of the viewers reacted to the journalist’s scandalous behavior.
Mr. Szymon from Poznań called Sobala to inform him that, as an intelligent and educated man, he did not like the term used for Donald Tusk. He called both calling the prime minister “quick heat” and the president “Adrian” linguistic degradation and emphasized that people who hold important positions in Poland should be treated with respect regardless of the political views of the commentators.
“Looking at your hair color, the same could be said about you, Mr. Jacek, and I suppose that if someone looked at me, they would say the same about me,” an outraged viewer summed up Sobala’s statement.
