Due to the exclusion of TVP Info, Telewizja Republika recorded record viewership. This is especially visible in the results of the flagship news website “Dzisiaj”. The program called “Real Polish news” was watched by an average of 536,000 people on the day of Danuta Holecka’s debut. A similar trend continued in the following days, and the best results were achieved by the edition of January 2, 2024, when the “Dzisiaj” website was followed by 641,000 people.
“Real Polish news” with record viewership
Data published by Wirtualne Media show that in the period from December 20, 2023 to January 9, 2024, “Real Polish News” achieved an average audience of 425,000 people. In turn, TV Republika’s share in the television market was 3.35 percent. Previously, in the period from January 1 to December 19, 2023, the “Today” news program was watched by an average of 14,000 viewers. This means that the website’s viewership increased 31 times.
Since August, the “Today” program has been broadcast every day at 7 p.m. Previously, the newscast was presented to viewers at 6:30 p.m. The hosts of the program are Danuta Holecka, who hosted the former “Wiadomości”, and Jacek Sobala, who has been working at TV Republika since 2019. Previously, the presenter was, among others, the head of Polish Radio Bis and Radio Trójka. In August 2018, he was suspended and then dismissed as president of the management board of Polskie Radio.
The recent scandal involving Jan Pietrzak has not faded away. At the end of December last year, the presenter spoke on TV Republika about placing migrants in barracks of former German concentration camps in Poland. The prosecutor’s office became interested in the case, and many companies stopped advertising their services on the station.
