The last years in the world of film undoubtedly belong to Barry Keoghan. In 2022, it was triumphant when we could see the production entitled “The Ghosts of Inisherin”, in which he played one of the main roles. There he played the role of a country boy named Dominic.

Last year, the latest film starring Keoghan, “Saltburn”, premiered. According to many, the production is controversial, and the actor plays the main characters together with Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”), and there was undoubtedly great chemistry between them.

Due to the many provocative scenes in which elements of subtle perversion can be seen, many viewers changed their opinion about the actor. Keoghan says in an interview with “” magazine that he was finally noticed as a man and not a “weird child”, although his character in “Saltburn” may also give that impression at first.

It’s nice that I’m not just looked at as a weird-looking guy, or a unique, fucking weird, weird little man-child, weird man-child, or whatever people call it. It’s nice to see people look at you this way. I’ll be honest. It’s nice, he admitted.

Barry Keoghan may not have starred in any of the films. For a while, he was even threatened with amputation

It turns out, however, that not only the characters played by Keoghan are interesting, but also the behind-the-scenes work on these productions. The directors of “Ghosts of Inisherin”, Martin McDonagh, also revealed in an interview for “GQ” the unusual situation that made them get closer to each other before starting work on this film.

I’m not sure if he was taking a lot of medication at the time, but he didn’t seem to care. We were supposed to start filming in 4 days and his arm was all swollen. He just said, ‘No, it’s fine, I’ll be fine – I’ll see you on Tuesday.’ I went to the hospital thinking, ‘Holy crap, is he going to die?’, let alone ‘Will he even make this movie?’, but I came back full of energy and looking forward to working with him.

The actor almost lost his arm because he developed necrotizing fasciitis, also known as a flesh-eating disease, before filming began. Keoghan then had a scar on his arm that looked like a snake. It is said that statistically one in five people die from necrotizing fasciitis, and Keoghan later stated that there was a point where amputation was considered.
