In recent years, it has been making bold decisions to maintain its leading position on the streaming market. One of them was establishing cooperation in 2018 with the most read American writer, . Of the 14 contracted novels, as many as 8 have been adapted into TV series so far. We check which of them are the biggest favorites of the platform’s subscribers.
Polish series based on Coben’s bestsellers. These titles were a hit on Netflix
I don’t think anyone has any doubts that Coben’s novels are extremely popular and have crowds of fans all over the world, including in Poland. It is therefore not surprising that Poles are responsible for implementing two of them. The first crime story to debut on the platform was “In the Depths of the Forest”, the main character of which is the prosecutor, Paweł Kopiński (played by Grzegorz Damięcki). One day he is called to help identify a murder victim. Evidence collected at the crime scene gives him hope that his sister, who disappeared many years earlier along with four friends during a summer camp, is still alive.
The second item worth attention is the series “Keep Calm” with Magdalena Boczarska in the main roles. It all starts with the unexpected disappearance of the Barczyk’s son, Adam. The desperate parents decide to find out at all costs what happened and bring him home safely. However, the search brings results that they had never even dreamed of before, as all the lies and dark secrets hidden by the inhabitants of the Warsaw housing estate are revealed. What connection do they have with the teenager’s disappearance?

Among the film adaptations of Coben’s bestsellers, the British “The Stranger” undoubtedly broke viewing records. Its main character is Adam Pierce (Richard Armitage), a lawyer by profession and a loving husband and father of two sons. The family idyll ends, however, when a strange woman tells him a secret about his wife, Corrine (Dervia Kirwan), and then disappears without a trace. The devastated man cannot believe what he heard. He decides to verify this information and find out the truth to prove to himself that these are just lies. A private investigation fuels his doubts, and each subsequent decision repeatedly destroys the peace he has built over the years.
Also worthy of special attention is the French-British series “Safe”, which is a classic example of Coben’s work. The plot focuses on the fate of Tom Delaney (Michael C. Hall), who is a pediatric surgeon and, after the death of his beloved wife, he raises two adolescent daughters alone. When one of them doesn’t come home after a night of partying, he begins a dramatic search for her. His neighbors help his desperate father, but it quickly turns out that those he considered friends were actually hiding a painful secret from him. This will not only affect his relationship with his children, but will also ruin the current order among the entire community.
