Polsat threatens with the costs of canceling advertising on TV Republika. Companies object: “This is terror”

It will not be easy for companies to give up advertising on TV Republika. Enterprises must take into account cancellation costs even if they withdraw from part of the contract concluded with the Polsat Plus Group.

Due to the broadcast of the material in which Jan Pietrzak talked about placing migrants in barracks of former German concentration camps in Poland, companies that had previously advertised on the air decided to withdraw their spots. Some of them were acquired as part of a broader package offered by the Polsat Media group. This was the case, among others, of Żabka Polska and the portal Pyszne.pl.

As reported by the website wyrcza.biz, media houses representing companies that expressed their willingness to withdraw their spots from TV Republika were to receive warnings regarding financial penalties. “The fines are to amount to up to 20 percent of the contract. In our case, it may amount to several dozen thousand zlotys, but in the case of other companies it may be much more,” said a representative of one of the companies. Companies that decide to withdraw advertising from only one medium will also have to pay an opt-out fee. “This is terror on the part of Polsat Media,” complains the president of the company that signed an agreement with the Polsat Plus Group.

Wyborcza biz. asked the Polsat Plus Group spokesman for a comment on this matter. “Anyone can cancel commissioned campaigns – of course, in accordance with the rules. So let’s not joke about this terror and threats, because it is not serious,” said Tomasz Matwiejczuk.

In the tab titled “Principles of Sales in Polsat Media Television Programs” on the polsatmedia.pl website we read that: “Withdrawal by the Advertiser from the Order, its part or resignation from additional broadcasting services obliges the Advertiser to pay a reservation fee in the amount of the specified fee for reservations”. In this situation, it will be 20% in the event of cancellation up to the 5th business day before the first broadcast or 100% in the event of cancellation later than the 5th business day before the first broadcast.
