How to calculate the night allowance? The Labor Code clearly states this
Night hours start at 9 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. the next day. This is a total of 10 hours, but you do not have to work that many hours to receive additional remuneration. One hour is enough. Pursuant to the Labor Code, an employee working at night is entitled to a remuneration allowance of 20% of the hourly rate resulting from the minimum wage. This amount is calculated as follows: minimum wage/working time in a given month x 20%. According to the regulations, if someone works at night permanently, the allowance may be replaced with a lump sum.
How much for night hours in 2024? This year, the stakes will change
From January 2024, the minimum wage is PLN 4,242 gross. From July it will increase again and will amount to PLN 4,300 gross. Thanks to this, the amount of the bonus for night work will also change from the new year. From January to April, you will receive PLN 5.05 for each hour worked at night, and PLN 5.30 in May and June. As the months go by, this rate will keep changing. It is worth adding that the employer may set a higher allowance. It cannot reduce it, but it can increase it.
