On December 31, 2023, TV Republika hosted the satirist Jan Pietrzak, who made a scandalous joke about Poland accepting migrants. A few days later, the former editor-in-chief of “Wprost”, Marek Król, spoke in equally shameful words, talking about “chipping” and “tattooing” migrants.
TV Republika is boycotting IKEA, but the Swedish brand’s chairs are still used in its studios
Faced with these situations, concerned Internet users began to call out brands whose advertising spots were broadcast on TV Republika. mBank and IKEA were among the first to speak out and announced that they would withdraw their advertisements from this station. Tomasz Sakiewicz, Michał Rachoń and other decision-makers at the station appealed to viewers not to use the services of both brands.
Michał Marszał, who in the past created the Instagram profile of the weekly “Nie”, decided to boycott former advertisers of Republika TV. He currently runs an account under his own name, where he quickly exposed the hypocrisy of “boycotting” many brands. He published a screenshot from the “Salonik Polityczny” program, hosted by Rafał Ziemkiewicz.
It turns out that the host of “The Salonik” and his guests Agaton Koziński, Stanisław Janecki and Mariusz Gierej sat comfortably in armchairs from… IKEA. “The boycott is in full swing”, “They took four at once” – commented the Marshal mockingly. This hypocrisy was exposed in an even more blunt way by the creator of the fanpage “Bareja wouldn’t have invented it”.
Right-wing journalists have already “boycotted” the Swedish furniture company in the past. In 2019, TVP’s “Wiadomości” showed a material titled “Objection to LGBT promotion at IKEA”. However, on the desk where Edyta Lewandowska sat, you could see an iconic glass that can be purchased in a Swedish store.
