“I am not a staunch Catholic, but from time to time I go to church and receive the sacraments. And although it is most likely not out of the need of the heart, this is what my parents and grandparents taught me. Today, at the age of almost forty, I believe that it’s an ordinary tradition. In fact, it’s quite interesting and worth cultivating. That’s why, as soon as I started my family, I decided to receive the priest after Christmas carols. I thought then that I wasn’t losing anything, maybe just a few zlotys from my wallet. Today, however, I have something different thinking.

This year we had Christmas carols exceptionally early, on December 30. I was a little surprised, but I quickly realized that the change of place of residence certainly had something to do with it. A few months ago, we bought an apartment from a developer and moved in just before Christmas. I wanted the priest to bless the new property. I didn’t know if the neighbors would welcome the priest, but for me it was natural. And since I live on the top floor, I looked from above to see if anyone was coming to pick up a priest, or maybe I would be the first person to receive a priest in this block. However, I quickly saw that practically every neighbor was prepared to be a priest.
When the priest came to us and greeted us, in the hall he asked if, like other neighbors, we also had a loan for this property. I froze, I swear. I didn’t expect such a bold question from him, especially since we hadn’t even started talking in earnest. I saw my husband’s face and felt that he was about to say a few too many words to the priest, so I swallowed and smiled. A little later I added that it didn’t matter and invited the priest to my humble home. I don’t think I need to tell you the atmosphere we sat in for the next few moments. What a disaster!

I decided to talk about it because I think people should know what priests are capable of. I know that my husband and I should have reacted, but then we were stunned. Another thing was that there were children nearby and we didn’t want an argument. Now I understand this campaign against priests. This is hypocrisy.”
