The actress Lily Gladstone made history tonight by winning his first nomination at the Golden Globes 2024. The performer triumphed in the category of best actress in a dramatic film, thanks to her role in Killers of the flower moon during the 81st edition of the awards ceremony.

Gladstone also sets the record as the first artist with Indian roots to win this award, during the ceremony that is considered the prelude to the Oscar.

The interpreter remembered exactly that when she took the stage to receive her award on the evening that took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. In his acceptance speech, Gladstone spoke in the language of the Blackfoot, an indigenous tribe native to the United States and Canada. Gladstone is of Blackfoot and Nez Perce descent on his father’s side, while his mother is white with European roots.

“I have no more words, I just spoke a little in the language of the Blackpies, a beautiful community, nation, that raised me and encouraged me to continue doing this,” she said.

“I came with my mother, who, even though she is not Blackfoot, worked tirelessly so that I could speak our language in class. That’s why I had a Blackfoot language teacher growing up.”

Gladstone ended his speech by saying: “This award is for all the children who have a dream and see themselves represented in our work.”

Lily Gladstone played Mollie Burkhart in the crime drama film Killers of the Flower Moonby Martin Scorsese, which is currently receiving high praise from critics.
