Today he is one of the most popular vocalists in Poland. Since 2005, he has been the leader of the band Feel, with which he created many songs, including: “And when it’s already dark”, “Like an angel’s voice” and “Show me what you can do”, which are still played on radio stations. However, before he achieved success, he had to face the consequences of the contract he signed with the label when he joined the Sami group.
Piotr Kupicha wanted to terminate the contract with the Sami band after 4 years. It turned out that he had to pay a fine
The musician’s most loyal fans certainly remember that he took his first steps in the industry in 2000 as a guitarist in the band Sami, with which he released his debut album. After 4 years of cooperation, however, he wanted to make changes, but was prevented from implementing them by hastily signing a contract with the label. At that time, the awareness of negotiating the terms of contacts was not as great as today, so he agreed to many unfavorable points. – I think it is very important to sign non-thief contracts. Often, young people after various talent shows had to sign contracts in which the label took 80 percent. I paid such tribute in the Sami band – he said in an interview with .
When he decided to form his own band, he informed the label of his intention to break off contact. He thought that everything would go smoothly, but then he experienced a painful disappointment. – I remember that I told my publisher that I wanted to be free from the contract I had signed. And I was informed that I had to pay this much money – he recalled, adding that the amount was beyond his financial capabilities at that time. How did he manage to get out of this situation?
To cover the costs, he had to sell more than just the car. That’s how much it cost him to create the Feel band
It turned out that the label had anticipated that the singer might want to prematurely terminate the contract, and therefore secured its interests with a provision in the contract regarding an appropriate financial penalty. To be able to cover all the costs, he had to recover all the money spent, but even this turned out to be insufficient. – I remember that I bought a car with money from ZAiKS and something else, I had to sell everything so that Feel could start. The contract stated that if I wanted to work for another label, I had to pay a financial penalty. And with showbiz cold blood, the publisher said this amount – he said in an interview with the portal. Fortunately, the Feel band began to achieve success quite quickly, which also meant high rates for performances. In this way, the artist got rid of his debts and since then he carefully analyzes each document before he decides to sign it.
