Tonight the magic of Vienna will invade the great hall of the Art Center Theater, where the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra (OSG) offers its first concert of 2024, inspired by the spectacular New Year’s recitals in Europe.

This is a New Year’s gala, called ‘Vienna in Guayaquil’, with classical Viennese music, mainly waltzes by the great Austrian composer Johann Strauss II. At these types of concerts in Vienna, the audience is usually dressed to the nines with a television broadcast that can be seen all over the world.

“It is a special cultural event that celebrates the start of the new year in a musically enchanting way”mentions a statement from the orchestra.

Led by the Spanish maestro Íñigo Pirfano, The audience will vibrate with Strauss’s waltzes and polkas performed by the OSG and the soprano’s voice Viviana Rodriguez singing emblematic operetta pieces.

The gala will be held this Friday, January 5 at 8 p.m. in the main hall of the Art Center Theater. Tickets can be purchased at TicketShow and cost $10 in advance. (JO)
