First there was , which was recorded by Zdzisława Sośnicka many years ago. Oskar Cyms and Carla Fernandes sing “To the Stars” – watch the music video
The album “Akademia Pana Kleksa” with the soundtrack to the first part of the film trilogy directed by Maciej Kawulski went on sale a month ago, but now an additional song appears. The single “To the stars” is performed by Oskar Cyms and Carla Fernandes. Cyms gained nationwide recognition after releasing the single “Daj mi pozna”, for which he received a gold record certificate in July 2023. He is also the winner of the 18th installment of the program “Your Face Sounds Familiar”. Fernandes is, among others, participant of the second series of the Polish “The Voice Kids”.
Maciej Kawulski is responsible for directing the music video. The music is the result of group work, worked on by: Carla Fernandes, Maria Dzięcielak, Emilian Waluchowski, Patryk Kumór, Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek and Piotr Zborowski. The lyrics were written jointly by Carla Fernandes, Maria Dzięcielak and Patryk Kumór.
“Mr. Kleks’ Academy” in cinemas. The film is closer to the book than the previous film
The new version of the story about Ambroży Kleks and his Academy, on the one hand, modernizes the story created by Jan Brzechwa, and on the other – in many respects, it is closer to the source material than the film adaptation with Piotr Fronczewski from the 1980s.
While still working on the film, most attention was paid to replacing Adaś Niezgódka with Ada. It turns out that in the 21st century, not only boys study in fairy tale schools. And not only from Poland. Ada herself (played well by Antonina Litwiniak) is Polish, but lives in the United States. After arriving at Mr. Kleks’s, she meets friends from all over the world. It’s a pity that the supporting characters are very marginalized and formulaic. The Japanese girl practices karate, the Brazilian plays the guitar… and Ada has almost no imagination at all. He goes to the Academy to learn this and at the same time learn more about his family’s past. She will also defend the walls of the Academy.
This time Szpak Mateusz is not a puppet, but an acting role. Sebastian Stankiewicz, highly rated for his work on such productions as “Mr. T.” (Eagle for the best supporting role) or the Polish version of “Saturday Night Live”, encourages more children to travel to the land of fairy tales. It’s a pity that he has to make jokes about poop so many times… The academy is run by Professor Ambroży Kleks, played by Tomasz Kot. He’s a prankster and a joker who laughs at his own jokes, a man we certainly wouldn’t call an authority. When a threat appears, he is passive and reckless, and all the agency is left in the hands of the children. For those who remember Fronczewski in this role, this may come as a shock. However, it turns out that Kot’s version is closer to Brzechwa’s intentions.
It is worth noting that Piotr Fronczewski also starred in a new film about Kleks. He plays the role of Ada’s mysterious neighbor. Observant viewers may also spot Ralph Kaminski, who got a cameo. Danuta Stenka certainly stands out as an actress as the commander of the Wolves army, driven by the desire to take revenge on Mateusz.
On January 2, the film’s distributor announced that 438,000 people saw Maciej Kawulski’s “The Academy of Mr. Kleks” at the pre-premiere screenings, organized from December 25. This is a record result for pre-premiere screenings in the history of the Polish box office. The film enters the regular cinema repertoire on January 5.
