Although 500 kcal sounds like a decent, large meal, in reality this is not always the case.

Michał Wrzosek is a doctor of dietetics and nutrition. On his TikTok profile, @michal_wrzosek showed what sample meals worth 500 kcal look like. This is, for example, a Big Mac from McDonald’s, one milk chocolate, 5 bananas, 5 natural Skyrs and 6 slices of Gouda cheese. For people who don’t count calories on a daily basis, this may be a real shock.

After all, it might seem that eating chocolate is an innocent sin, and putting a few slices of cheese on a sandwich is nothing special. Unfortunately, some products are typical fillers that only temporarily satisfy the feeling of hunger.

500 kcal: how much food is that? Contrary to appearances, not that much

It is worth paying attention to both the calorie content of meals and what they contain. A dinner prepared with healthy ingredients will fill you up for longer, and it has the same number of calories as a hamburger or sweets. Personal trainer Michał Konicki showed examples on his TikTok profile, which contain approximately 500 kcal. These include small pancakes, creamy oatmeal, homemade granola and a chicken wrap.
