TV Republika asks viewers for money. Sakiewicz explains that he had unplanned expenses

TV Republika wants to create an alternative for the current TVP viewers who sympathize with PiS, but it does not have the appropriate funds for this. The station is asking viewers for help, but its president, Tomasz Sakiewicz, hopes that this will change in the coming weeks.

When the coalition won the last elections, it was known that public media were facing major changes. Already then, media experts predicted that the only salvation for , which had been associated with propaganda for several years, would be personnel changes. As predicted by experts, some well-known journalists from Telewizja Polska found new jobs at TV Republika.

TV Republika is asking viewers for money. Sakiewicz emphasizes that this is an “extraordinary” situation

Telewizja Republika has been undergoing a real renaissance since the beginning of the TVP revolution. The creators of the medium create an edition of the news website “Dzisiaj” competing with “19.30”, in which she made her debut on December 29. In turn, Michał Rachoń, another TVP star, became the station’s program director.

However, what distinguishes TV Republika and TVP are financial resources. Sudden investments in the development of the station meant that presenters of current affairs programs began to encourage viewers to make transfers to “free media” that “support those who are thrown out” of Telewizja Polska. Danuta Holecka, among others, appealed for donations. “Thank you very much for your trust and financial support for free media. You can still support us by making payments to our account,” she informed the “Dzisiaj” news service.

Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of the station, with Wirtualne Media explained why it was necessary to ask viewers for financial support. “Adopting a team twice as large as we planned this year and expanding the schedule by at least six hours of additional broadcasting. For this you need an investor, and our investor turned out to be the viewers,” explains the journalist.

Sakiewicz declares that TV Republika wants to make a living from advertising

Sakiewicz emphasizes that we are dealing with an extraordinary situation and assures that the station wants to live on money from advertisers in the future. Currently, however, TV Republika is benefiting from records of popularity and viewers’ emotional reactions to changes. Sakiewicz is aware that high viewership numbers may be temporary.

Recent events, however, show that finding large clients who will want to advertise on TV Republika may be a challenge for the station. After the scandalous on-air statement by Jan Pietrzak, who suggested that migrants’ place is in the “barracks” in Auschwitz, Majdanek, Treblinka and Stutthof, there were reactions from television advertisers. mBank informed that it “does not support the activities of this station” and declared that it would check the situation. In turn, IKEA declared in a conversation with Gazeta.pl that the store’s advertisements would stop appearing on air.

Sakiewicz did not reveal how many donations have been collected so far, but he emphasizes that viewers willingly support TV Republika. “There are just a lot of these donations, PLN 5 or 10 each. This makes us happy because it means that we actually have more viewers who want to support us,” Sakiewicz emphasizes. He also explains that the station managed to equip the studio thanks to donations from viewers. Cameras, lighting and equipment necessary for work were purchased.
