After the new coalition led by Donald Tusk took power, there was a revolution in the public media. On December 20, the broadcast of Info was suspended, which caused opposition and agitation among the media’s employees. At the beginning, there were attempts to publish live reports from the TVP headquarters on Facebook, but for some time now, entries promoting the new TVP format – “19:30” have been appearing on the social media.

The situation is different on TVP Info’s Twitter, where the station’s profile is most likely run by supporters of the old order in Woronicza. Evidence may include the entry from January 2 about Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz’s next decision.
“Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz appointed President Zdanowska’s good friend from PO as the director of OTV” – we read in the entry, which illustrates an archival photo of Magdalena Michalak-Szwarc (because we are talking about her here) in the company of Hanna Zdanowska and Anita Werner, a TVN journalist.

Magdalena Michalak-Szwarc replaced Marcin Szypszak as the acting director of TVP £ód¼. The journalist left television in 2019, when the previous authorities began to introduce changes to the station.
TVP Info’s suggestion that Michalak-Szwarc received the position because of her acquaintance with PO politicians or sympathy with TVN journalists was not accurate, which was immediately noticed by commentators. “She’s a good candidate. She knows the industry, there’s nothing to complain about.” “But this is good news. She’s an icon of TVP in Łódź. She created it from the beginning and she has something to do again,” we read in the comments under the post.

Magdalena Michalak-Szwarc is a native of Łódź, presenter and journalist. She graduated from the State Drama School in Warsaw, but abandoned acting to pursue a career in the media. In 1993, she joined TVP Łódź, where she made her debut as the host of the morning program “Dzień Dobry”. Then, for years, she presented “Łódź News of the Day” to the city’s inhabitants.
