Wajda’s “Wałęsa. Man of Hope” returned to TVP after many years
The last broadcast of Andrzej Wajda’s film about Lech Wałęsa on TVP took place in November 2015. Shortly later, Law and Justice installed Jacek Kurski as its own president of Telewizja Polska and from that moment on, some topics stopped appearing in the public media. he became one of the main political enemies and, if he was presented at all on Polish Television, it was only in a negative way.
However, times have changed and the current revolution in TVP has brought not only new “Wiadomości” in the form of the “19:30” program, or new TVP Info without “horror bars”. On the first TVP program, viewers on New Year’s Day could watch one of Andrzej Wajda’s last films – “Wałęsa. Man of Hope”.
In recent years, this film was not broadcast on TVP. It could, of course, be seen on other channels, but not on those belonging to the public media. It was broadcast by Polsat, TV4, ZOOM TV and Kino Polska. Since 2015, TVP has consistently stated that this production does not exist.
