Their first meeting took place at the Warsaw theater school, where they both started their studies in the mid-1970s. Although they knew each other by sight, they were not interested in each other and usually passed each other without saying a word. Everything changed thanks to the play “Children’s Room”, in which both of them were cast.

First they moved in together, then Kuryło became pregnant. Pręgowski’s mother told them to get married

Kuryło and Pręgowski were among those students who put their whole hearts into their roles. It was no different then, and their preparations for the premiere did not end with rehearsals with the director. This made them get closer and their relationship began to develop into a deeper one. Just after a few weeks of dating, the actress moved in with her lover and his mother, and soon it turned out that she was pregnant. – The rehearsals for the play didn’t end there and before we knew it, Zosia appeared in the world – Pręgowski – the beginnings of the relationship.

Then his mother suggested that they should get married. Initially, Kuryło did not see herself as a wife, she was not even sure whether she wanted to spend her life with the father of her child, but eventually she succumbed to the pressure. – She told us that since the baby appeared, there was no other option – she said. They got married when their firstborn was three months old. However, the vision of life together did not fill them with optimism, because they were still students and penniless, but they trusted that fate had a plan for them.

The actress never hid the fact that initially she was unable to reconcile her career with taking care of the house. After several performances at the Rozmaitości Theater, where she got a job while still a student, she decided to withdraw from public life for a while. During this time, she found fulfillment as a mother and completed postgraduate studies in speech therapy. It was different in the case of her husband, who, after several roles in films and series, including: in the cult “Teddy Bear” or , he was hailed as the hope of Polish cinema. However, life is unpredictable and after a wave of offers coming from all sides, he stopped winning castings and no one wanted to hire him.

Savings began to disappear at an alarming rate, and the spouses saw no chance to improve the situation. They then decided to move to the United States. Thanks to the help of a friend, they found a job and even a place to stay, but the officials who did not issue them visas stood in the way of fulfilling the American dream. – Poverty has stared us in the face. These were not lean years, it was a collapse – recalled Pręgowski, adding that out of desperation he started making money by hosting parties as a host and… a look-alike. In difficult times, he could count on the support of his wife, who tried to keep the whole family in line. – She could have left and started a new life, but she supported me in my fight for dignity. Thanks to her, I didn’t give up, he said about her. However, the crisis soon came to an end, all thanks to his role in the sitcom “Camera Cafe”, which made Pręgowski a screen star again. After this performance, new proposals appeared and the financial situation improved. Today they are grateful for these experiences, thanks to which they have built a strong and lasting bond that has lasted continuously for 40 years.
