In Puerto Rico they identify 176 positive cases of COVID-19 that would be related to the concerts that Bad Bunny gave

Bad Bunny offered his first concerts this weekend since the start of the pandemic.

The Puerto Rico Department of Health confirmed this Wednesday that there are at least 176 positive cases of covid-19 that are suspected to be associated with the concerts of the singer Bad Bunny last Friday and Saturday in the city of San Juan.

The island’s chief epidemiology officer, Melissa Marzán Rodríguez, said they are investigating whether people were already infected when they attended the concerts or if they were infected during the show.

The expert also anticipated that new positive cases associated with the concerts will emerge, which brought together some 80,000 people at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.

PAHO: “This year was undoubtedly worse (in the COVID-19 pandemic)”

Although the level of transmission is still moderate on the island, there has been an increase from 2% to 3.5%, said Marzán Rodríguez.

The epidemiologist called on those attending Bad Bunny concerts or any other mass event to take the test to detect the virus and, if positive, to isolate themselves to stop the chains of contagion.

Bad Bunny offered its first concerts this weekend since the start of the pandemic, turning the Hiram Bithorn stadium into a nightclub with a dozen guest artists, including J Balvin, Sech and Romeo Santos.

The organization of the event required attendees to present their vaccination card to enter the stadium and protect themselves with masks.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 223,000 cases of infections and 3,277 deaths from covid-19 have been registered in Puerto Rico, the United States territory with the highest vaccination rate. (I)
