When traveling, we must remember that tipping customs may vary significantly depending on the culture and region. Recently, a Polish influencer learned this perfectly well when, after ordering coffee at the airport, she refused to pay an additional payment to a café employee. The behavior experienced by the Polish woman caused a storm on the Internet!

A Polish woman surprised by the behavior of a cafe employee at the airport. Nobody expected this!

Julia Tychoniewicz, a well-known Polish influencer, has learned how differently restaurant employees who do not receive a tip can react.

What happened to me yesterday? I was ordering a coffee at the airport and it came time to pay and this lady looked at me and said, “Okay, please choose your tip.”

– the girl started the story.

While paying for the ordered coffee, the girl was asked to choose the amount she wanted to spend on a tip for the cafe employee. When the influencer decided not to leave extra money for the woman she was served by, she encountered an unusual reaction.

“I clicked “no tip”. I’m a real Pole, we don’t do that in Poland. When you serve someone coffee, you can throw some small […]”

– she added, explaining her decision.

It’s worth remembering that in some places tipping is common and considered part of the service culture, while in other places it is not so common or even frowned upon.

The influencer said that when she refused to give a tip to a café employee, the woman became angry and threw the printed bill at her. The Polish woman admitted that she had never encountered such a situation before. She also admitted that she does not always refuse a tip, but she can distinguish when it is actually due to an employee and when it is not.

Nowadays, tips are increasingly included in the bill as part of the employee’s salary in some places, while in others they are treated as additional remuneration.
