One of the actor’s wives, Frances Ford Seymour Brokaw, ended up in a psychiatric hospital after the divorce. There, a woman took her own life. Frances reportedly couldn’t come to terms with the loss of her husband, who had started a relationship with a much younger woman. Her children were told that she died of a heart attack.

His daughter from his relationship with Frances Ford Seymour Brokaw – Jane Fonda – told more about life with the star after many years in her biography. The famous actress reconciled with her father only before his death in 1982. The man died at the age of 77 after suffering from heart disease and prostate cancer.

How did the daughter and her father reconcile? In 1981, the actress produced the film “On the Golden Pond”. It was a story about a withdrawn man and his estranged daughter. Jane starred in it alongside Henry. Katherine Hepburn played the role of the mother. While recording the scene in which Jane was supposed to tell her father that she cared about his friendship, she was terrified. She was then supported by Hepburn. “The fact that she noticed how hard it was for me and tried to support me as much as she could meant everything to me then,” Fonda said.

According to the actress, her father was incapable of expressing love. -Talking to my father about my feelings is like bringing a dead animal and laying it at his feet. He would just look astonished and ask: What should I do about it? – the actress admitted in one of the interviews.
