There were also bitter words about the rates that the stars of Polish productions receive.

In the conversation, he revealed, among other things, how much you can earn for the main role in a blockbuster Polish production. The actor used the example of “Letters to M.”, which, according to , was watched by 2.5 million viewers in cinemas. The Christmas production earned $13.9 million. – You think that if an actor plays in “Letters to M.”, then he lies upside down for a year, but it’s not like that – noted the actor. Gorzko said that many viewers are wrongly convinced that Polish stars known from cinema and TV screens are millionaires. However, the truth may turn out to be completely different.
– These are not the rates of Western stars. If you play the main role, you will earn PLN 200,000. PLN in a film watched by millions of people – admitted Tomasz Karolak. The actor also said that if he starred in an equally successful Hollywood production, he would not have to worry about money. – If I played these roles in America, maybe I’d be upside down and half an island next to Lenny Kravitz – he concluded.

In an interview with money.pl, Karolak also revealed that earnings in the theater do not seem impressive either. In a private institution, earnings are approximately PLN 700-800, in a public institution they are sometimes even lower. As he emphasized, for many Polish actors, appearances in TV series are the only stable income, often saving the household budget, just like roles in films or advertising cooperation. For Tomasz Karolak, “Rodzinka.pl” was such a salvation. – We had very good contracts and that allowed me to buy an apartment then – he admitted.
